I just completed a short course on influencing run by the Wharton School and the Australian Graduate School of Management. My employer sponsored it and I had a fantastic experience because the course had a good mix of facilitators from both institutions and a professional actor (who taught us all about presence). We were given enough opportunity to practice what we learned and all of us had to leave our egos at the door.

Putting money where my mouth is

My father was diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer in its early stages in January. He has successfully gone through six cycles of chemotherapy and we are all optimistic with his recovery. The cancer is concentrated in one body part and thankfully the smaller tumours “disappeared” because of the treatment save for the “mother tumour” which has shrunk in size. He will now have to undergo radiation treatment to finally say good-bye to this remaining blob. My sisters have ...
